Can you show us a howto on post data search engine

I appreciate the reminder (again). I have stopped using POST forms much anymore, mainly because of CSRF and session issues. For instance, I tried using http://www.corpusdelespanol.org/web-dial/ but when I made the POST request, it failed due to an invalid session. When I first created Shortmarks, lots of sites let you POST from wherever. Nowadays, most sites only want you to create a POST request from the originating site. Plus, it's not very easy to set up POST requests. If you are able to find a site that lets you POST to it, open up the Network tab in Chrome Developer tools to see what the POST request looked like, including the URL, and put the URL in the search field and the parameters of the POST request into the POST field, like a=1&b=2&c=%s and put a value of %s for the variable that you want to be able to change in your Shortmarks query.
For example, when I searched on Corpus del Español it sent a POST request to http://www.corpusdelespanol.org/web-dial/x2.asp. That URL goes in the Search link field. The parameters (shown under Form data) were as follows.
chooser=seq&isVC=n&whatdo=&whatdo1=&showHelp=&wl=4&wr=4&w1a=&p=SHORTMARKS&posDropdown=Insert+PoS&w1b=&posWord2Dropdown=Insert+PoS&w2=&posColDropdown=Insert+PoS&submit1=Find+matching+strings&sec1=0&sec2=0&sortBy=freq&sortByDo2=freq&minfreq1=freq&freq1=20&freq2=0&numhits=100&kh=200&groupBy=words&whatshow=raw&saveList=no&ownsearch=y&changed=&word=&sbs=&sbs1=&sbsreg1=&sbsr=&sbsgroup=&redidID=&compared=&holder=&waited=y&user=&s1=0&s2=0&s3=0&perc=mi&r1=&r2=&didRandom=y
Find the parameter that contains your search query (I searched for "SHORTMARKS" so it's the p variable) and replace the query text with %s. Put the parameter text in the Post Data field:
chooser=seq&isVC=n&whatdo=&whatdo1=&showHelp=&wl=4&wr=4&w1a=&p=%s&posDropdown=Insert+PoS&w1b=&posWord2Dropdown=Insert+PoS&w2=&posColDropdown=Insert+PoS&submit1=Find+matching+strings&sec1=0&sec2=0&sortBy=freq&sortByDo2=freq&minfreq1=freq&freq1=20&freq2=0&numhits=100&kh=200&groupBy=words&whatshow=raw&saveList=no&ownsearch=y&changed=&word=&sbs=&sbs1=&sbsreg1=&sbsr=&sbsgroup=&redidID=&compared=&holder=&waited=y&user=&s1=0&s2=0&s3=0&perc=mi&r1=&r2=&didRandom=y
Then search as you normally would, using the keyword.

Could you explain more about what you were hoping it would be? There may be a way to implement it. I'm curious why you would have to use the bookmark then click another link, instead of going directly to the second link.

Hi Jaden -- Thanks for the quick note. Ah, that makes sense. I was kind of hoping that it would be a command or a regex sort of thing that would make the browser click a link after using the bookmark. This would be helpful for certain web apps, such as Salesforce.com.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm still planning to write something up, but I've been busy. The short summary is POST data is only used with sites that don't support the normal method (GET). If all the sites you want to use work, then you can ignore POST. If there is a site that's not working, let me know and I'll show you how to to use POST.

Any news on the Post Data usage help? It seems like it'd be something useful, so I'm all ears.
