Enable SSL
It would be cool if you'd allow access via HTTPS. Don't like to share my search queries in plain text over the internet :P
Doesn't even need to be a valid certificate. A self signed one is fine once added to the whitelist.
Shortmarks now has SSL enabled.

I hear you. And touché on Edward Snowden :) I agree with you and will be adding SSL support. It's not the complexity of installing the certificate, I've done that several times before. But from my tests, adding SSL cuts the performance by 75%. For example, if I'm getting 1,000 requests/second, adding SSL drops it to 250 requests/second. For a service that's in front of every web search, that's a pretty major performance reduction. I'm looking into other ways of improving performance with SSL.

How about this one? https://www.startssl.com/?app=1
Works fine for me so far and it's free. Took me about 20 minutes for registration and set up in lighttpd even though it was my first time using a "real" certificates ever.
It doesn't even need that much more bandwidth or CPU power: http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver/blog/2013/06/23/whos-afraid-of-ssl
Since your server is located in the USA this is kinda a big deal for me (*cough* Edward Snowden... you know)
